In a nutshell: ethical breeders only partner dogs that have been cleared of genetic conditions that can hinder a long, healthy life. At Canaan Ridge, it's a must and first step before having puppies!
If you want the long winded answer, read more below.
Willow Mae has completed Embark genetic testing, confirming a healthy genetic foundation and providing valuable insight into her health and coat traits for future breeding plans. Her OFA health clearances are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2025, in preparation for thoughtfully planned & healthy litters. She's approximately 30# and will be paired with a partner between 20-30#, producing small & medium sized goldendoodles.
From a coat perspective, Willow carries one copy of the furnishings gene (F1), which supports the low-to-non-shedding coats that many families are looking for in a doodle. She is also +/- for curl, meaning she can produce a range of coat types — from soft, wavy fleece to curlier coats — depending on the pairing. This allows us to plan breeding's that balance both appearance and ease of care. Upon OFA clearance, Willow will be paired with a male that is FF for furnishing - meaning all puppies will be low / non-shedding.
Our program at Canaan Ridge Doodles is intentionally small and hands-on. We focus on quality over quantity, carefully selecting fully health-tested partners that complement Willow’s temperament, coat, and structure. Each litter is planned with purpose, raised in our home, and nurtured with individual attention from day one.
